Cut it, screw it

After a while, I´ve completed the cuttings on the G5 housing. I cut the top shelf as well. Now I can start build it up again and start screwing the stuff. Also, I build some „HDD Cage“ from the old, dismounted cage and painted it silver to. I fixed the HDD in the case, with the original Apple screws and set the SSDs on top (fixed with Velcro). The HDD Cage could now build in the Case (fixed with Velcro too). The advantage of this modification is to decouple the cage from the case. I built in the be quite PSU and the top shelf included the apple mechanism to close the side part of the G5. After that, I connect the front panel cable to get the power button working and built in the front and back fans. Looks like a real PC after all that! YAY! 😀

I also got all the parts needed to build up the Hackintosh, even the M.2 SSD from Israel arrived 😀

I have some concerns about the onboard soundchip of the mainboard. Because of my headphones fucked up for awhile, I decided to buy some new one -> Beyerdynamic DT 880 Edition 250 Ohm. So, a 250 Ohm headphone, can´t be driven by a onboard card. I want to use the headphones on my MacBook Pro aswell, so I decided to go for an external DAC / HPA. I would go for the Asus Impresario Pro, an external Bluray Burner which can be used on a Mac and a Windows machine, connected via USB. Now you think „What the fuck? A bluray bruner as a DAC/HPA? Is this guy on drugs?“ -> Nope. Asus built a external bluray burner with an integrated 600 Ohm headphone amp with a build in S1 Xonar Soundchip and  a Texas Instruments DAC. I wanna go for a USB Switch, so I can use that thing with both, the Hackintosh and my MacBook Pro 😀

Next step will be, building in the hardware in the G5, so stay tuned.
